Ucche Makha, Smashed Bitter Melon  


We generally don’t like to have Ucche / Bitter Melon as it is bitter in taste, but it is very good for health. There are two types one is Ucche and other one is Karela. Ucche is smaller in size and Karela is bigger one. I prefer to have the smaller one for this recipe as its seeds are soft.

Serving Size: 2

Cooking Time: 30 mins


  1. 250 gm Ucche ( Smaller Bitter Melon)
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Mustard Oil as required
  4. 2-3 Green Chilly ( Finely Chopped )

Cooking Procedure:

Take small green fresh Ucche. Cut both the ends.


Boil it in pressure cooker for 1-2 whistles.


After that smash it and mix with all the above ingredients.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve it with hot rice.
