Thor Fry, Banana Stem Fry

Banana Stem is very healthy and is widely used in southern India as a weight loss remedy. So I prepared it as a curry. Just have it and enjoy the taste. Nowadays,  it is rarely prepared as we have a very hectic schedule so we don’t get time to make this dish. It is a great recipe for lunch time.

Serving Size: 4

Cooking Time : 40 mins

  1. 500 gm Thor ( Banana Stem)
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1/2  cup Moong Dal
  4. 1 tb spoon Turmeric Powder
  5. Sugar to taste
  6. 1 tsp Kalo Jeera

I would like to know where to by this canned or frozen or in any other form, in Toronto, Canada? Thanks.

I get this occasionally in Chinese store like Oceans or Bangladeshi store. You need to look out. I don’t think you can get it frozen as you are aware the banana stem get oxidized and turns darker the moment you chop it.
Not sure about canned though. However, I buy the canned version of the banana blossom. I get the “in Water” version and not the “in Broth” which is little sour in taste. Do let me know if you get the canned version of banana stem by chance…. thanks.

Can you please specify exactly which store I can get this or which aile or section I should look for this? Thank you so much for your help.
