Smashed Potato With Poppy Seeds  


This is a very popular Bengali dish. In Bengali its called Aloo Bhathe. It is really difficult to find a Bengali who has never heard of this dish. It is a very healthy and easy dish.

Serving Size: 2

Cooking Time: 20 mins


  1. 2 Medium Size Potatoes
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1 Dried Red chilly
  4. 2 tsp Poppy Seeds( Posto)
  5. 1 Onion
  6. Mustard Oil

Cooking Procedure:

Cut the Potatoes into two pieces


 Cut onion lengthwise .


  Boil potatoes in pressure cooker for about whistle or you can Microwave as-well


Heat mustard oil in pan then put dried red chilly with onion. Fry it until it is light brown then add poppy seeds.

When it is cold take out from pan and mix with the boiled potatoes in a bowl. Add salt as required.


Serving Suggestion:

Serve it with dal and white rice.
