Nowadays, we all are so busy that we don’t get time to cook complex dish like Mocha-r Ghonto as it is very hard to cut Mocha or Banana Blossom. It’s a difficult and time consuming process but it ultimately pays off. The easiest way is, you can get the canned mocha. It is available in any Chinese grocery store labelled as Banana Blossom in Water or Brine.
Servings : 2-3 people
Cooking Time: 1 Hour
Banana Blossom Cut and cleaned
1 Potato cut into pieces
Half a cup of Boiled Chickpeas
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Cumin or Jeera Powder
1″ Long Ginger grated
3 Green Chillies
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Bay leaf
1 tsp Garam masala Powder
1 tsp Ghee
First boil mocha with a little bit of salt and turmeric powder to reduce the bitterness. Drain the water and smash the banana blossom.
Heat the mustard oil. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds. Let it sputter.
Add the chopped potatoes and fry it for 2 mins. Then add the boiled chickpeas.
Add ginger paste and green chillies when Potatoes and chickpeas are cooked.
When the raw flavor of ginger is gone, add all the spices turmeric powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder and mix it well.
Reduce the heat and then add salt and sugar as per your taste.
Add the grated coconut and boiled banana flower into this mixture. Fry it for about 5 mins on low heat. Add half a glass of water and mix well.
Lastly add Garam Masala powder and Ghee.
When nice aroma comes out Mochar Ghonto will be done.
Enjoy Mocha-r Ghonto with white rice. It took about 1 hour to prepare this recipe and serves 2-3 people.
