Ilish Sarson Jhol, Hilsa Mustard Curry  


It’s a yummy dish.  I’m going to present a traditional Bengali dish called Sorshe Ilish. This is the most common Hilsa recipe and is cooked most in all Bengali households. This recipe is one of my all time favorites.

Serving Size: 4
Cooking Time: 60 mins

  1. 250 gm Hilsa Steak
  2. 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  3. 1 tsp Yellow Mustard Seeds
  4. Coconut
  5. 1/2 tsp Black Jeera
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  8. Mustard Oil
  9. 2-3 Green Chilly
Cooking procedure:
Marinate fish with salt and turmeric powder.
Put the black , yellow mustard seeds , coconut, turmeric powder , salt and mustard oil  into the the container of a clean coffee grinder.

Put jeera to crackle in oil and then add the fish and above paste with water. Boil for 5-7 minutes. Mix in 1 teaspoon raw mustard oil, salt. Put the green chillies and turn down the heat


Serving Suggestions:

Serve it hot with rice.
