Cholar Dal with Narkel, Chana Dal

Cholar dal is the Bengali dal for any festivals. It is little bit sweeter kind of dish which goes well with Luchi. It is not for everyday dal . It is made in special occasions.

Serving Size: 4

Cooking Time: 45 mins

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup Chana Dal( Cholar Dal)
  2. Coconut
  3. 1 Bay Leaf
  4. 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  5. 1/2 tsp Ginger Paste
  6. 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  7. 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
  8. 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Sugar to taste
  11. 1 tsp Ghee
  12. 1 Tomato
  13. A pinch of Garam Masala
Cooking procedure:

Soaked for 2 hrs in hot water.

Cook the dal with the turmeric,tomato salt, sugar and water in the pressure cooker for 10 minutes. Keep aside.

Cut the coconut into small pieces . Add bay leaves , green chilly and cumin seeds to crackle in oil

Fry the coconut and pour over the dal and stir. Then add all the spices and cook for 10-15 seconds, till they darken. Stir well.

Serving Suggestions:

Now serve hot Luchi, or paratha
