Please clarify what is in Chicken masala mix how much of what individual ingredient is in the chicken masala mix.

    • milidutta says:

Chicken Masala is a readymade mix of different spices.

      • SChowdhury says:

I understand. But there are different types of chicken masala mix out there. My request to you is let us know what individual masala are in that mix that you used for this recipe. i.e: Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Iranian chicken masala carries very different masalas in their mixes. My curries do turn out ok with those mixes, but don’t look the way it looks in the photo you posted here. That’s why I am asking if you please let us know what exactly consists in the masala mix you used in this recipe. Thanks.

The ingredients for chicken masala are : Cumin Powder, Coriander Powder, Red Chilly Powder, Garam Masala Powder, Black Pepper. These you will get in Indian Chicken Masala mix.

I am trying this recipe (simmering right now). I’m excited! I thought it was a little strange however, the step of sauteing the onions and pepper ’til brown THEN frying the chicken, only tended to send the onion and peppers toward burning.

    • Mili BR says:

You need to make sure your heat is on medium. Also, you need to add little bit of water when the chicken and mixture gets too dry. When you fry the onion well it will add a brown color to your chicken else it’ll look like pale yellow which is not too attractive.

Well, now it’s the next day, and I can report that the dish turned out to be delicious and won accolades from the whole family. I would like for the sauce to have been less “liquidy” but overall the results were terrific. I served it with some turmeric rice : )
