LUCHI – Deep Fried Indian Flatbread – Poori  

Luchi is a puffed deep fried flat bread made with all purpose flour. In Bengali occasions luchi is must for morning breakfast. It reminds me of weekend morning with some luchi with cholar dal or alooer dom.

Serving Size: 2-3 people

Cooking Time: 30 mins


  • All purpose Flour / Maida
  • White oil
  • Salt
  • Warm water
  • Oil for frying

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Now in a bowl add maida, little bit of salt, 1 tbsp white oil and mix it well. Then slowly add water and knead it well. Gradually add more water and make a smooth dough.
  2. Now cover it and keep it half an hour.
  3. Make small balls from the dough. Spray some oil and then roll it in a round shape.
  4. Heat white oil in a pan and then deep fry luchi.
  5. So perfect puffed luchi is done.

Serving Suggestion:

Enjoy puffed luchi with cholar dal, aloor dam or potato curry. It took me about 30 mins to prepare this recipe and serves 2-3 people.
