Chirer Polao – Poha Pulao  

This is a quick recipe. Chirer Polao is usually served as breakfast in India.

Serving Size: 2

Cooking Time: 20 Mins


  1. 200 gms thick Rice flaks /Poha / chire.
  2. 1 potato
  3. 1 Onion
  4. 1 Carrot
  5. 1/2 cup Green Peas
  6. 1/2 cup Peanuts raw or roasted
  7. 2 green chilly
  8. 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  9. 1/2 tsp pepper
  10. Salt
  11. Sugar
  12. 1 tsp ghee or clarified butter
  13. White Oil

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Cut Potato, Onion, and Carrot into small pieces.
  2. Heat the oil then fry the peanut and keep aside.
  3. In the same pan fry the potatoes. Take it out of the pan when done.
  4. Add chopped onion and green chillies.
  5. Add carrots and fry it until it is tender.
  6. Add water into the rice flakes and drain the water completely. Repeat this procedure for 2-3 times.
  7. Add green peas and cook it until it is done.
  8. Add the fried potatoes and peanuts.
  9. Add salt and stir.
  10. Now add soaked chire and mix well.
  11. Add sugar, ghee and grounded pepper and mix well.
  12. Chirer polao is now done.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve it as breakfast or snacks. It took about 20 mins to prepare this recipe and serves 2 people.
